Christmas is a beautiful time of the year, but let’s be honest: the post-Santa tsunami of new clothes and toys can turn your home into a cluttered nightmare. As conscious parents, we love the joy of new gifts, but we also hate the waste created when good items get buried and forgotten.

The solution? Get rid of the old before the new arrives! We call this the "Santa's Little Consignor" Challenge—a simple, two-basket declutter strategy that makes room for Christmas morning while preparing for future cash payouts.

 

Step 1: The Two-Basket Rule

 

Grab two large laundry baskets or boxes and label them clearly:

Basket 1: Premium Pile

and 

Basket 2: Give Back Pile

As you go through your children's closets and toy bins, you must be honest about where each item belongs!

 

🧺 Basket 1: The Premium Pile (Consign for Cash)

 

This pile is your opportunity to earn cash or in store credit. These items are destined for DREAM NU’s consignment floor, where they will find a new home and earn you 40-60% of the sale price.

  • Crucial Timing for Christmas Apparel: Make sure to provide all Christmas apparel (dresses, suits, themed outfits) NOW so we can get it photographed and listed prior to Christmas events!

  • What Goes In: Items you originally invested in heavily. Think Seed Heritage, Country Road, Nike, or premium boutique labels. Items must be in excellent, stain-free condition.

 

🧸 Basket 2: The Give Back Pile (Donate for Impact)

 

This pile is for items that still have life left but don't meet our premium consignment standards.

  • What Goes In: All fast-fashion brands (Kmart, Big W, Temu, etc.), well-loved play clothes, and any items that have minor fading but are still functional.

  • The Benefit: We don't want anything to go to waste! We happily accept these items as DONATIONS for the Priceless House Foundation. Every cent we earn from selling this basket goes directly to supporting local mums and families with unplanned pregnancies. This is true circularity with a heart.

 

Step 2: Take Advantage of the Slowdown (The Hidden Benefit)

 

You're right—while retail shops are crazy busy right now, the pre-loved consignment season is a bit slower for us in early December.

This is the perfect time for you to drop off your items!

When you consign now, your items bypass the usual bottleneck we experience in January. We currently have the time to process, photograph, and price your items quickly, meaning they are ready and waiting on the racks for the inevitable post-Christmas traffic and the New Year's declutterers.
